Golden Arrow Bus Services is wholly owned by Hosken Passenger Logistics and Rail (HPL&R); an investment entity, which is tailored to consolidate and expand opportunities in the mobility and logistics sectors.
HPL&R’s current portfolio is rooted in the commuter bus and luxury coach segments. HPL&R will be listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange on 24 April 2018.
Hosken Consolidated Investments (HCI) is HPL&R’s major shareholder. HCI is a black empowerment investment holding company which is listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange. HCI’s major shareholder is the SACTWU Investment Group, the investment vehicle for the South African Clothing and Textile Workers Union.
The HCI Group is a diverse combination of investments including hotel and leisure; interactive gaming; media and broadcasting; transport; mining; clothing and properties.
Yunis Shaik (B.Proc): “ Yunis serves as an Executive Director on the board of Hosken Consolidated Investments (HCI). He has served as Deputy General Secretary of the Southern African Clothing and Textile Workers Union (SACTWU). He served as Senior Commissioner of the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA) from 1999 to 2001. He is an Attorney of the High Court of S.A. and has served as an Acting Judge of the Labour Court”.
Kevin Govender, B.Comm (Hons), B.Compt (Hons) "Kevin is the Financial Director of HCI. He joined the HCI group in 1997 and held the position of Company Secretary. He was promoted to Chief Financial Officer in 2001. He holds directorships in several of HCI subsidiary companies and is a trustee of the HCI Foundation. He was appointed to the HCI Group as an Executive Director in 2009."
Chief Executive Officer:
"Francois Meyer, B.Comm, MBA “Francois joined the company in 1991 as Project Manager overseeing the company’s Mossgas contract. He was appointed Operations Manager in 1992, assumed the position of General Manager in 2004 and became Chief Executive Officer in 2015. He is a Director of the South African Bus Operators Association (SABOA)."
Mark Wilkin, B.Comm, CA (S.A.) "Mark joined City Tramways in 1983 and was appointed Financial Director in 1988. As part of the team that negotiated the management buy-out of City Tramways, he is a founding Director of the present day Golden Arrow Bus Services."
Naziema Begum Jappie BSocSc (Hons), MSocSc (specialising in Industrial & labour studies, PGDip (HE) & Honorary Consul for the Republic of Maldives: "Naziema brings with her a distinguished and varied background in fields including education, labour law, conflict resolution and performance and project management. She has served as SACTWU’s national education officer, Executive Director at the Durban University of Technology and Dean of Students at the University of the Witwatersrand. She also served as Vice President of South African Women’s Forte, Vice Chair – HEAIDS Strategic Advisory Committee (HESA), Member of Institute for Directors of South Africa, Member of Muslim Women’s Shura Council and Secretary for the Vula-e-Noor Organization (working with orphan children). She is currently employed as Director for the Centre for Educational Testing for Access & Placement at University of Cape Town. Naziema was appointed in 2013."
Derick Meyer, Road Transport Management (Dip) and MDP. Derick joined the Company in 1981 and has since occupied positions including Schedules Manager and Manager for Golden Arrow’s MyCiTi Subsidiary TBRT. He was appointed as General Manager in 2016.
Gideon Neethling, MBA. Gideon joined the company as Divisional engineer in 2008 after an extensive consulting career in Industrial Engineering in the mining, fishing, manufacturing and transport industries. He holds a degree in Industrial Engineering and an MBA, both from Stellenbosch University.
Human Resources and Corporate Affairs Executive:
John Dammert, B. Soc. Sci., MBA, MPhil (Futures Studies). "John joined the company in 2006 as Corporate Development Manager. He has previously overseen the corporate affairs function at executive level at TOTAL Namibia and Namibia Breweries Limited and prior to this served as the Chief Executive of the Namibia Chamber of Commerce and Industry
